MMC for a Cause Shows Support at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

MMCer’s had a very early wakeup call yesterday to volunteer at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Central Park. Six MMCer’s volunteered to help guide race participants and supporters through the registration process. They were also able to cheer on fellow MMCers from the Caltrate team who walked with Pfizer Consumer Heath and its agency partners as part of the recently launched Women Move the World initiative.

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure attracted tens of thousands of survivors and loved ones to help raise money for the fight against breast cancer.

MMC for a Cause & Dress for Success

This past Saturday, 14 MMC-ers participated in the Power Walk for Dress for Success. Held in 30 cities nationwide, the MMC team joined the 5K power walk to raise money for Dress for Success’ Health & Wellness initiative. Dress for Success spokesperson and fitness guru Jillian Michaels was joined by makeup artist Bobbi Brown and Mets alumni John Franco and George Theodore to kick off the event. New Yorkers raised more than $30,000 for Saturday’s event and MMCers were proud to be a part of it!

MMC for a Cause & The Oscars

This Sunday, MMC-ers will have yet another reason to be glued to the television for the award season’s biggest show – The Academy Awards.  Beyond our love of pop-culture and fanaticism about movies, MMC-ers will also have the opportunity to donate to a cause of their choice through MMC’s  “MMC for a Cause” program.  MMC-ers who participate will submit a completed ballot and $3.  The funds collected will be donated to a non-profit organization of the winner’s choice.  Now that’s a way to up the ante on your Oscar predictions!

On your mark, get set, go!

Yesterday, Team MMC took it to the streets…streets of Central Park that is. It’s a long standing tradition throughout the country – The JP Morgan Corporate Challenge, a 3.5 mile race to support local charities. For NYC, it was the Central Park Conservatory.

As we walked through the crowds of people, we couldn’t help but notice the creativity that thrives in this City – it was exemplified through the unique team shirts and slogans. The teams bonded as you saw groupings of the fast runners, joggers and walkers.

Team MMC made the race more interesting by offering $50 to the runner with the fastest time. AND the winner is – Annette Evans, coming in at 29 minutes and 33 seconds. A close second was Scott Slattery at 31:52.

Thank you to Mary Beth, Maree and Kate for helping to organize this event and thank you to our runners – Cathy Fitzpatrick, Marissa Festante, Erica Nadboy, Annette Evans, Scott Slattery, Cara Caulkins, Mary Beth and Maree!

A special thank you to our volunteers – Jen, Emily and Mariana.

Here’s to more wellness activities for Team MMC in 2011!

MMC Puts Food on the Table

The tally is in… the MMC for a Cause Annual Bake Sale raised $605 for the Food Bank of New YorkThat’s $151 more than last year!  Are MMCers baking better or just eating more?

This money will help the Food Bank provide approximately 3,000 meals!   We would like to thank Davinia Buckley, Special Projects Assistant, from the Food Bank who came to serve as an impartial judge and even helped man the table during the hectic first hour.

We also like to thank Cathy Fitzpatrick for organizing the tasty event, the MMC bakers, table attendants and building neighbors (including the local fire and policemen) who ate and donated!

And now, I’m incredibly proud to announce the MMC Bake-Off winners.  I can assure you no judges were bribed.  Drum Roll, please…

Brownies and Bars: Sarah Pfeiffer, Chocolate Mascarpone Bars

Cookies: Marissa Festante, Oreo Truffles

Cakes, Cupcakes, Breads and Muffins: Cathy Fitzpatrick, Samoa Cupcakes

Miscellaneous: Rachel Lenore, Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

Comments heard from the building lobby crowd included, “Here’s my bowl. I’m back for seconds of that peach-blueberry cobbler.” “Wow this Bourbon Cake smells like I will have a good afternoon” and finally “I’ll only allow myself one cupcake but keep the change for the Food Bank.  Treats and giving back, what a great idea!”

What a fun and filling day!
