It’s As Easy As Pulling Over
Many of us are guilty of this at one time or another.
It’s an incredibly hard habit to break.
We live in a world where being connected 24/7 is the norm.
But texting, tweeting and surfing the Web on your smart phone while driving is more dangerous than we want to believe.
Oprah is bringing awareness to this issue with today’s first ever National No Phone Zone Day. Awareness events are scheduled all across America, resources are available online and a pledge to make your car a “no phone zone” is being promoted as the core of this program. While the pledge has been live on her site for over a year, only 225,000 people have signed thus far. (I hope all the people cruising the same roads as I do have made this commitment to safety!)
What I personally love about this program is the involvement from high schools and teens. This morning on KTLA in Los Angeles, they featured a local high school rallying around this campaign. This is an important issue to tackle before the habit starts.
